adamstown.

I love all things old. My house is filled with antique furniture or classic Americana. My kids play with little people older than my husband and myself. I'm not entirely sure why I'm drawn to vintage things but it probably has a lot to do with my precious memories of playing at my grandma's house. I just remember her house being filled with beautiful, quirky things. She had porcelain cats climbing on the front of her house and giant decorative pigs in her living room. It was silly and playful but it was beautiful. Her house was filled with floral prints and white china. Something about her house always felt like home to me. Maybe it was because we went there when we were sick and she was the one to feed us soup and let us watch gameshow and soap operas all day, or maybe it is the memories of running around with my cousins all summer while our parents worked.

She passed away when I was a young girl and I miss her dearly. I wish I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to her about her life, first crush, childhood, and interior design inspirations. But for now I'll search the thrift store, and antique malls for things that remind me of her.

Just a few weeks ago my family and amazing mother-in-law ventured to Adamstown, PA (It is the antique store capital in the U.S.). We searched for treasures, tried on silly hats and clothes, and even bought a few things. It was a lot of fun and I hope my kids have fond memories of "treasuring hunting" with me.
